Biofuel – It is typically made from plants like corn, switchgrass or sugarcane. Yeast fermentation is then used to produce ethanol.

Biomass – plant and animal material for example, agricultural waste products, used as a source of fuel.

Carbon Footprint - The carbon footprint is a measure of the global amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases emitted by a human activity or accumulated over the full life cycle of a product or service. Our Carbon Footprint can be measured with a Carbon Footprint Calculator.

CFL – Compact Fluorescent Light.  Uses less power and has a longer life than standard bulbs. They save 2000 times its own weight in greenhouse gases.

Climate change – significant long term change in the ‘average weather’.

Cool cities – These cities have made a commitment to stopping global warming by signing the U.S. Mayors’ Climate Protection Agreement. It empowers city residents and local leaders to join and educate their cities to start smarter energy solutions.

Creation Care – Stewardship based on faith. To take care of God’s creation by living a sustainable life and acting upon climate changes.

Ethanol – a grain alcohol first used as lamp fuel in the U.S. in the early 1840’s. Ethanol is now used as a fuel additive.
